YMCA Program Update

Water Aerobic classes

The Twin Pike Family YMCA will be offering water aerobic classes this summer. Sessions will run for eight weeks the schedule is as follows:

21st CCLC News

The Y 21^stCCLC summer programs for the summer of 2012 are getting off to a good start. Clopton started the 3 week summer session (May 21^st – June 8^th) last Monday, May 21^st.

21st CCLC News

Last week the Y 21^stCCLC program submitted an article for the Twin Pike Y information booklet. In that article we provided a statement about the fiscal status of our 21stCCLC programs relative to the federal program which provide the lion’s share of funding for our Pike County schools extended school day programs. For the past several years the majority of funding has come from local sources. The article in the Y information booklet was written as follows:

21st CCLC Afterschool Program At BONCL

Students in the Twin Pike Family YMCA 21^st CCLC Afterschool program at BONCL recently completed an “Around the World with Foods” enrichment with Judy Cannon made possible by the Lay Family Foundation.  During the enrichment students made and tasted foods from around the world including All American Apple Pie and Italian Pizza Toast.  Above, left to right, James Hilton, first grade student at BONCL, and Ethan Campbell, second grade student at BONCL, enjoy Mexican fried ice cream that they made during the afterschool program. 

YMCA Afterschool Programs Family Fun Night - April 2012

The Bowling Green and Frankford Elementary Schools, the Bowling Green and Frankford PTO’s and the Bowling Green and Frankford YMCA Afterschool Programs held a Family Fun Night on April 5^th.

Healthy Kids Day/Kids Expo April 28, 2012

The Twin Pike Family YMCA and the Pike County Memorial Hospital will once again host Healthy Kids Day/Kids Expo on April 28 at the Twin Pike Family YMCA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

21st CCLC Update

The Twin Pike Y 21^stCCLC extended school day programs along with the regular school year at all six Pike County school sites is rapidly coming to a close. 

21stCCLC gets lesson on "Respect and Bullying" By Lousiana Police Department

The Twin Pike Family YMCA 21stCCLC After School program would like to say thank you to the Louisiana Police Dept., Chief Hughes, Officer Jackman and Officer Miles Neff, who took time out of their busy schedule to come and talk on "Respect and Bullying".  The students in the After School program enjoyed the games and the different activities they participated in with the officers.  The students in the picture are from l - r: Danielle Bland, Mechia Campbell, Kela Campbell, Raegan Bowser, and Connor Bland doing a demonstration with Chief Hughes.
